We live in an age where it seems as if everyone has smartphones. Most people do have smartphones but a lot of them do not use their smartphones to its full potential. There is no point in using a smartphone to only fulfill the basic purpose of having a cellphone. These people fall into the same category people who don’t see the need to be socially connected. These are usually from the generation that lived during crux the apartheid era. This causes a divide in society between the connected and disconnected people. The disconnected ones are very often delayed with regard to trends and do not see the fuss that connected people make about how technology is benefitting their lives. This very often causes friction in society due to the fact that connected people believe that they’re more important than disconnected people. The youth of disconnected families are usually affected the most due to the fact that their grades aren’t as impressive as the connected youth. This is because the connected ones have access to more information. The disconnected youth will have a desire to be connected due to the fact that their friends are connected and very often are the reasons as to why people turn to technology. If the disconnected youths call doesn’t reach the brain of their parents it will cause a degree of unhappiness. The divide between the two categories of people could be eradicated as soon as people acknowledge their differences, the disconnected ones see the fuss and when people realize that one doesn’t have to be up to date with the latest technology to be significant. The fact that society isn’t growing as one is due to the fact that there is still an abstract bias from connected people towards disconnected ones whether its choice or circumstantial.
